AATCC Test Method 150-2018, ‘Dimensional Changes of Garments after Home Laundering,’ provides a standardized procedure to measure changes in garment length and width following typical home care. Developed by AATCC Committee RA42, this method involves applying benchmark pairs to garment specimens, measuring initial distances, and then subjecting them to specified washing and drying cycles. These cycles offer a range of standard parameters, including various temperatures and agitation settings, to represent common consumer laundering options. After laundering and conditioning, the benchmarks are re-measured, and the percentage change is calculated. A negative value indicates shrinkage, while a positive value signifies growth. The method details specimen preparation, apparatus, and calculation, ensuring consistent and comparable assessment of a garment’s dimensional stability after home laundering.
